This course, taught in English, is a unique occasion for scholars researching the history of the religious orders and more broadly the history of Catholicism in the early modern, modern and contemporary eras, and will be held from the 13th to the 17th of June, 2022, in Rome. The course will introduce junior scholars to the knowledge and the use of the central archives of the religious orders and their educational institutions in Rome, through lectures and workshops held by senior scholars who have used them and deeply know them, and through guided tours to the Historical Archives of the Dominican Friars, the Central Archives of the Capuchin Friars, the Archivum Romanum Societatis Iesu (Roman Jesuit Archives), the Archives of the Venerable English College, and Saint Isidore’s Irish College.
